When she heard the news that a persecution was approaching, Sr. Amandine said: I pray God, not to save the martyrs, but to fortify them. With true Franciscan joy she and her companions went to meet death singing the Te Deum, the hymn of thanksgiving. Seven Sisters, including Sr. Marie Amandina, were martyred on July 9, 1900. They were canonized on October 1, 2000, along with other Martyr Saints of China.[1]

She dances, sings, acts, and performs acrobatics, but no one knows because Amandina is terribly shy. Determined to change that, she rents a run-down theater and prepares to give the show of her life. She builds the sets, makes the costumes, and, most importantly, invites everyone in town. AMANDINA LIHAMBA is a performer and director for stage and screen productions. She has published plays and many articles on theatre, culture and politics, and gender and communication. She is a professor in the department of fine and performing arts at the University of Dar es Salaam, where she teaches theatre practice and art for social mobilization. She is a cofounder of the national children theatre project and festival as well as the Tuseme program, which agitates for education for girls. She has chaired national and regional organizations including The Tanzania Cultural Trust Fund, The East African Theatre Institute, and the National Museums of Tanzania. She has been the head of department, associate dean, dean, and member of the university council at the University of Dar es Salaam.
