Considered the greatest marksman in the DC Comics universe, Deadshot's accuracy is on par with Hawkeye and Bullseye of Marvel fame. With a pair of silenced wrist-mounted Colt .45s, Deadshot claims to have never missed a shot. And though he has no super-powers to speak of, his deadly accuracy could prove an issue for even the strongest or fastest of competitors.

He first appears in Batman #59 and was created by Bob Kane, David Vern Reed and Lew Schwartz. At first, it seemed that Deadshot had arrived in Gotham City to become a new crime-fighter, but was revealed as a foe of Batman when he attempted to replace him. Batman and Commissioner Gordon had Deadshot sent to jail and publicly exposed his plan to become king of the Gotham underworld.

Deadshot's most defining characteristic is his desire to die in a spectacular way. That was his main motive in joining the dangerous Suicide Squad. It was during his run in Suicide Squad that writer John Ostrander delved into Deadshot's twisted past. It is revealed that Deadshot's apathy towards death can be attributed to his parents' hatred for each other and the terrible twist of fate that led him to accidentally kill the brother he loved.

Within the DC Universe, Deadshot is often a hired assassin, regularly boasting to never miss. He is capable of using a large variety of weapons, but is most frequently portrayed as using a pair of silenced, wrist-mounted guns. He initially appears in Gotham City as a new crimefighter, but is revealed to be an enemy of Batman when he attempts to replace the Dark Knight.
