Bill Gates The Road Ahead Views
It was early enough in the history of the World Wide Web that The New York Times thought it newsworthy to report that Gates was going to conduct on-line forums to promote the book and Penguin had created a Bill Gates web site on the Internet which will feature information and an audio clip about the book, printed excerpts and quotes from reviews, as well as information about the CD-ROM. Gates's notion that the Internet would play a supporting role in the information highway of the future, rather than being the highway itself, was out-of-date the day The Road Ahead was published. Even Gates realized it. Shortly before his book hit the stores, Gates reorganized Microsoft to focus more on the Internet, and he made major revisions to a second edition of The Road Ahead, adding material that highlighted the significance of the Internet.
In 1999, Gates wrote Business @ the Speed of Thought , a book that shows how computer technology can solve business problems in fundamentally new ways. The book was published in 25 languages and is available in more than 60 countries. Business @ the Speed of Thought has received wide critical acclaim, and was listed on the best-seller lists of the New York Times , USA Today , The Wall Street Journal and on Amazon.com. Gates' previous book, The Road Ahead , published in 1995, was at the top of the New York Times bestseller list for seven weeks.
