In turn, 20th Century Fox handed the project to William Dozier and his Greenway Productions. ABC and Fox were expecting a hip and fun—yet still serious—adventure show. However, Dozier, who loathed comic books, concluded the only way to make the show work was to do it as a pop art camp comedy. Ironically, the Batman comic books had recently experienced a change in editorship which marked a return to serious detective stories after decades of tales with aliens, dimensional travel, magical imps and talking animals.[3] Originally, espionage novelist Eric Ambler was to write a TV-movie that would launch the television series, but he dropped out after learning of Dozier's camp comedy approach. Eventually, two sets of screen tests were filmed, one with Adam West and Burt Ward and the other with Lyle Waggoner and Peter Deyell, with West and Ward winning the roles.

The mention of Karl Urban e– who will be busy with both the Star Trek AND Dredd franchise in the next few years m– is also viewed as highly dubious. Mention of the show being a vehicle for the return of The Joker and the high security being planned to protect the set is also making people question this rumor – from this report, it would seem that Batman TV show is about to start shooting next week!

Plus if you had seen the show itb’s easy to see why it failed it was among the worst tv shows Ip’d ever seen. Bad acting less than zero production quality and awful writing. Not to mention going with the non main stream huntress the one that most fans didnc’t care for then basically making batman a awful guy who doesne’t care about his child he was basically superman in SR then never giving him an episode. Biggest rogue on the show was Harley and it was a mediocre actress who never worse a costume in fact no one had one. Huntress had no mask and fought crime with a jacket .

I wouldnr’t be so sure of that. Despite the successes or lack of, Marvel (imo) seemed to got off to a head start with films. DC had lack of success starting with Superman 3 & 4, Supergirl, Steel, Some people consider Batman Forever a failure, Batman & Robin, Catwoman, Superman Returns. First big break DC had in a long time was TDK. To me, it seems DC is kinda copycating to see how Marvel Studiot’s plans workout before they do the same by makin solo films that would connect to each other before they consider makin Justice League film. Another example is Marvel putting out multiple tv shows out, now DC. Anyways, i too think Marvel has little bit momentum. After all, it seemed DC been more focused on Batman & Superman franchises over the years whether its movies or shows.
